A list of all the XMPP client apps is sortable by platform here.
Below are a list of the apps we recommend.

Important: The Windows build of Dino that we host was built by a third party from this branch. Since we have not fully reviewed all of the changes, we cannot completely guarantee its safety. This is the nature of all open source software. Use it at your discretion.

BASICS OF THIS XMPP SERVER

Our XMPP Server's Address Is:

xmpp.metahusk.com

User ID's (JID's) Take This Form:

username@xmpp.metahusk.com

Rooms Are Identified As:

room-name@rooms.xmpp.metahusk.com

Federation Is Disabled:

This XMPP server has federation disabled. This keeps our community more obscure and limits the resources the server consumes. The downside is you cannot use your account here to access other services. Fortunately, many apps allow users to switch between different accounts.

COMMUNITY RULES

We don't allow any content that is illegal in the United States of America, the jurisdiction where we are located.

We don't allow pornography or piracy. There are other places for that.

We don't allow excessive uploads. Please be mindful of of our server's resources.

Even if the laws of other jurisdictions restrict certain speech, XMPP makes it impossible for us to do so. Communication between users is encrypted. We are not able to control the encrypted conversations on this server.

WHY DOES THIS EXIST?

XMPP is an alternative to other messaging services, like Discord, which do not keep your data private.
These companies likely sell the data they mine from the messages you send. This can be bad for you in multiple ways:

1. The things you like or share could impact your future in ways you might not be able to foresee. There are people who have found themselves canceled, fired, or not hired because of something they posted on the internet 10 years ago, even if they were just jokes. By keeping your messages outside of large platforms, it can lessen the chance of this happening.

2. Companies are building behavior prediction algorithms, which they plan to use to influence people and politics. Internal leaks from Google have shown they have the intent to do so, and this has implications for our future. By moving your private conversations away from them, it makes it harder for them to have insight into the evolution of your preferences.

3. In the future, governments may utilize tools like social credit scores to silence members of the population. It's not unimaginable that some day your government might deploy AI to read your private messages and use that data to build a score from the content of your previous conversations. Also, communicating regularly with someone else who already has a bad score could be used to lower yours as well, even if you did not say or do anything the government considers wrong. This is ALREADY occurring in some countries.

WHAT ARE OUR MOTIVATIONS?

As a community of non-belligerent game developers who do not seek conflict with any nation, creed, or people, Metahusk beleives the philosophical principles of free speech and artistic expression are values which, if restricted, will eventually stifle creativity.

Although we may have some members who hold less common views, our intent is philosophical, not political, and, as such, we want to make it clear that by running an XMPP server it doesn't mean that we hold or condone any specific political alignments or worldviews that may, or may not, be expressed by a user on the server.
